With its convenient location, discreet staff and customised hospitality, Le Royal Monceau also attracts a legion of celebrity families looking to explore the French capital away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi. American actress and singer Leighton Meester chose to stay there while she attended the Elie Saab show last season, keeping a low profile with her children in tow.

Indian author Twinkle Khanna also checked in with her family and was delighted when the hotel arranged for a guitar in their suite. “Early evenings, I went to Le Bar Long to write a bit. A perfect spot to ponder great literary ghosts (and whether you should order another martini).
