Aishwarya Rai Bachchan posed on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet again today in a custom Gaurav Gupta look entitled “Heiress of a Clam”. This old Hollywood-style look featured a black velvet gown with delicate silver and gold beadwork lining the sides. “The gown is hand-embroidered with an abstract rendition of the cosmos in bursts of silver, gold, charcoal, and black, accented with micro glass crystals to capture dimension and light,” says couturier Gupta.
Wrapped around her was an ivory Banarasi brocade cape handwoven in Varanasi, India. The fabric was also inscribed with a Sanskrit shloka.
