Sonam Kapoor announces her pregnancy in an archival Escada suit once worn by Princess Diana

Hot pink is not subtle, and Sonam Kapoor chose the shade with intention, making it part of a pregnancy announcement. The archival Escada suit carries its own legacy. The 1988 Margaretha Ley design, styled by Rhea Kapoor and Sanya Kapoor, is the same one Princess Diana wore at London’s Marlborough Hotel for the start of the Push 2 wheelchair race.

The silhouette is classic power dressing: a structured longline jacket with strong shoulders, flap pockets and glossy black buttons, worn over a matching pencil skirt. Its vivid fuchsia tone held its own while sheer black tights and Saint Laurent’s Vendôme slingback pumps kept the lines uninterrupted. She carried Escada’s quilted heart bag, its soft structure and gold detailing subtly echoing the metallic accents of her ensemble.

Her accessories were minimal, featuring chunky gold hoops and rings from L’Atelier La Marquise Jewellery, a sleek Audemars Piguet watch and narrow, cat-eye-leaning sunglasses by Phoebe Philo.

For beauty, Kapoor kept the makeup soft with subtle contouring, lightly defined eyes and a diffused wing. Her hair fell in loose waves, lending ease to a look otherwise rooted in sharp, late-’80s tailoring.
