Katrina Kaif’s kurta set was replete with dori embroidery and hand-block print

For Eid, Katrina Kaif chose the Jaituni Aarna Kurta Set from Torani’s ‘Chaap Tilak’ collection. The anarkali-style silhouette with sheer churidar sleeves tailored in fine, handwoven Chanderi had a layer of butterfly net for added flounce and fluidity. Adornments were rife with intricate dori embroidery plus hand-block prints of floral and foliage motifs. Straight pants edged with lace and an embroidered odhani completed the set.

Kaif’s secret for switching up her pared-down yet powerful personal style? Attention to detail. She is never seen piling on jewellery for the sake of amping up a low-key look. With this green kurta set, the actor eschewed a necklace and went with all but a pair of chandbaali earrings from Shri Paramani Jewels. The shoulder-dusters, encrusted with polkis and pearl drops, illustrate the classic chandbaali design. She also opted a dewy base, sculpted brows, soft smoky eyes, glossy pink lips, and a sleek blow-dry.

When it comes to mastering the art of understated elegance like Kaif, a monotone look is a great way to start. Focus on comfortable pieces that spotlight timeless crafts. To accessorise, consider editing down your jewels to one or two statement pieces. Play up either the eye makeup or lips to ace the game. Trust your individuality to do the rest.

Shraddha Kapoor and Sharvari championed soft no-makeup makeup in this week’s best beauty looks

There’s always a new beauty trend demanding our attention, somewhere between the monochrome makeup revival and the Y2K glitter comeback. But some looks don’t scream for the spotlight; they simply stay. Quietly enduring, like the friend who never needs to announce she’s arrived.

The no-makeup makeup look remains that girl. Not because it’s “easy” (spoiler: it’s anything but) but because it plays the long game. It’s the art of appearing effortless, of building a base so sheer it could pass for good genetics, and glossing over lips so they seem plump by divine intervention. It’s the invisible scaffolding behind every “woke up like this” lie. It’s the perfect blend of subtlety and precision that makes it feel like you were simply born glowing.

Shraddha Kapoor made a case for the enduring power of restraint, stepping out with dewy skin, softly defined brows, and the softest hint of brightening sheen that framed her eyes. Pearl studs, layered chains, and a tousled updo tied it all together—soft glamour without a single heavy hand. The result was understated, yes, but radiated effortless sophistication.

Sharvari leaned into a similar mood. Her pink-toned blush, winged eyeliner, and glossed lips offered the kind of polished nonchalance that looks like it took five minutes and actually took forty-five. Every detail was carefully considered, adding depth to her otherwise laid-back vibe. Minimalism, but make it practised.

Taapsee Pannu, never one to colour inside the lines, in a mocha corset sari deserved its own standing ovation. Her beauty look mirrored the mood: bold brown lips, brushed-up brows, and a lit-from-within skin finish. There was nothing timid about it, just powerful, striking elegance with a confident, unapologetic spirit.

At an event for The Hollywood Reporter, Nitanshi Goel kept it fresh in a custom Manish Gharat
outfit. A light foundation, pink-peach tones on the cheeks and eyelids, and a hint of highlighter in the inner corners of the eyes. Nothing overworked, nothing overwrought, just bottled and applied with restraint.

Sonakshi Sinha cranked up the drama in a Falguni Shane Peacock ensemble dripping in embellishments. Her makeup rose to meet the moment: a molten brown metallic eyeshadow, bold eyeliner and inner-corner highlights. The muted lip and soft blush anchored the look, while her wild, curly hair gave the whole thing an unruly, rockstar energy.

The super new moon on April 27 will push you out of your comfort zone

After the turbulent solar eclipse month of March, Taurus season’s new moon comes just in time, says Jetteke van Lexmond. The co-founder of the Moonsisters and their well-known lunar calendar further reveals, “For many, the calm, earthy energy of Taurus feels like a sigh of relief. Taurus invites you to make a stronger connection with your own body and the Earth.” The coming weeks are therefore ideal for focusing more on your health. “Exercise more, eat healthier and detox. Taurus also helps you to slow down, reflect on the mundane and enjoy all the beauty of Mother Earth and life,” says the moon expert, adding, “Taurus are true connoisseurs and love romance, beauty and art. Let this energy flow now.”

The first super new moon of 2025 is due in April

The new moon in Taurus on April 27 is also 2025’s first super new moon. The Moonsisters explain, “With this new moon, the shadow periods of Mercury and Venus retrogrades end. In addition, the energy of the eclipses recedes into the background.” This could bring more peace of mind as well as the feeling that you are finally becoming more settled.

This new moon in Taurus is something special, van Lexmond reveals. “In addition to it being the first super new moon of the year, which is also the closest to Earth of all the new moons this year, no important planets are in retrograde, so the energy flow of renewal can be full.” Although every new moon is a new beginning, this super new moon really heralds a new phase, which will be more noticeable from mid-May. “But you can already experience more clarity now because you are moving with the energy.”

Van Lexmond continues, “Now that Venus—the ruling planet of Taurus—is moving direct again, you can come to new conclusions about partnerships and your finances. It’s a good time to review your spending and relationship with material possessions and self-worth. To what extent do you link your self-worth to your possessions and the money you earn? How do you see others? Do you put other people above yourself because they have more material possessions or a higher status?”

Be prepared for tension and unpredictability

The new moon in Taurus meets the square between fiery Mars and changeable Pluto, which could create tensions and unpredictable changes. “You may feel more inclined to step out of your comfort zone,” say the Moonsisters. “Taurus won’t necessarily like this, as it likes to stick to its current form—especially if it’s linked to financial security—and prefers to avoid change.”

Zendaya’s best Met Gala red carpet looks over the years

As a six-time Met Gala attendee, Zendaya is no stranger to hitting the event’s famous red carpet. But one could say the fashion stakes are a little higher for the star at the annual star-studded affair. Last year, on Met-Monday, Zendaya was joined by fellow co-chairs Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Vogue‘s Anna Wintour to welcome guests to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala celebrated and raised funds for the museum’s Costume Institute, which showcased its spring exhibition, titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

If anyone is up for the challenge of delivering a memorable fashion look on the Met steps, it’s Zendaya. Since attending her very first Met back in 2015, the Euphoria and Dune star has consistently served up ensembles that are as head-turning as they are on theme. One standout example? In 2018, the actor wore an armoured Versace look as a nod to Joan of Arc. It was a smart choice for the “Heavenly Bodies’ theme, which explored the intersection of Catholicism and fashion. Zendaya also nailed thematic dressing for the 2019 “Camp: Notes on Fashion” gala, when she showed up in a Cinderella-like Tommy Hilfiger gown, complete with stylist Law Roach as her fairy godmother—wand and all.

Last year, she embraced the “Garden of Time” dress code in a blue, black, and green Margiela creation that evoked a mystical forest. Her gown featured faux grapes, a bird perched atop her head, a long feather in her hair, and a veil for added drama—all brought together with striking, theatrical makeup. And she didn’t stop there. Zendaya made a second appearance that evening in vintage Givenchy haute couture: an off-the-shoulder black gown with a structured bodice and a voluminous skirt that flowed into an extravagant train, paired with an elaborate Alexander McQueen floral headpiece. If there’s one thing Zendaya will always do on the Met carpet, it’s put on a show.

As for what the star will wear to this year’s Met Gala, that’s obviously a secret. But considering the theme is Tailored for You” and that Zendaya is a not-so-secret lover of vintage and structured silhouettes, we’re already predicting a knockout archival moment.

Kajol’s archival black Manish Malhotra sari features zardozi on chenille fabric

With her latest Manish Malhotra ensemble, Kajol made a case for deep hues and rich fabrics. Even though the sweltering temps have understandably nudged the trend towards vibrant palettes and wispy fabrics, the actor showcased her penchant for non-conformist choices as she turned up for an event in a black chenille sari, a luxurious, fuzzy fabric typically reserved for winters. (The word ‘Chenille’ originated from the French term for ‘caterpillar’, whose fur this yarn resembles.) Intricate embroidery brought together ornate paisleys entwined with delicate florals and foliage, while the scalloped border appeared as if directly woven into the textile and not attached to it.

The revered art of zardozi embroidery is said to have originated in Persia and conjoins two Persian words: ‘zar’ (gold) and ‘dozi’ (embroidery). During its heyday in the 13th century, the craft was executed in gold and silver threads and was used to embellish most everything—from tents to scabbards of erstwhile royals.

Today, it is interpreted differently with several metallic threads that are employed to painstakingly sew surface ornamentation on an array of textiles. The time and labour-intensive craft can take anywhere between 10 days to a couple of months to complete, depending on the intricacy of the design. Malhotra has long been its flag-bearer, carrying its legacy forward with several couture collections, most notably ‘Nooraniyat’. His latest Evara ‘25 outing, too, sees traditional zardozi embroidery threaded over timeless handloom textiles to create exquisite saris, anarkalis and lehengas.

Horoscope Today: April 26, 2025

Cosmic tip: Become the authority to challenge old redundant structures in your life.

Pick up a rhythm, fan an idea and then keep going, Sag. You may feel like you keep starting from scratch again and again, however, keeping your long term plans in mind, take one step then the next in your desired directions. You may be in a place of power hence using your pawns correctly may impact the game that plays out eventually. Stay kind, focussed on your lane and keep serving with a passion that has you written all over it. The stars are aligned. Soar!

Cosmic tip: Gear up for some good karmic retribution.

There may be someone watching your every move, but hey, staying alert and becoming alarmed are slightly different. Capricorn, your passion and zest for life may be unequalled, and at this point your goals are all that should matter to you. Are you losing touch with your intuition because you are trying to enforce structure and a regime in the mix? Or are you overcompensating because you feel that is the only way that has worked for others and hence it should work for you? Time to gaze within and step out of the race – it is not who gets where by the end of it all, it is how you get to where you wish to, okay?

Cosmic tip: How do you wish to express yourself?

Collaboration, networking, building relationships and kinship is on the cards for you – and Aquarius, whatever your system and rhythm, it is a valid one. Your skill lies not in harbouring the badge of doing it all by yourself, instead quite the contrary – your merit lies in your ability to bring people together, gather communities and create a safe space for everyone to share and grow. You’ve been thinking long and hard, and now it may be time for you to really open up and joyously share with the world.

Cosmic tip: Stay in touch with your emotions without drowning in them.

You don’t always need to feel productive by doing something. When you are so busy doing a million things in your head, thinking, articulating, refining, perhaps even meditating, you do a lot more than you could while taking action. Pisces, don’t let your present boredom trick you into feeling that something is missing or lost. Remember that the most creative ideas arise in a state of absolute blandness. It will soon be time to find your inner claws and bring them out, until then, cherish this sameness.

Cosmic tip: Rest until it is time to rise.

Dua Lipa and Sobhita Dhulipala went from beaches to ballrooms in the best fashion looks of the week

This week, the best-dressed stars are clocking in full shifts with a game-changing day-to-night wardrobe. From Dua Lipa’s deconstructed sports jersey for the beach and Olivia Rodrigo’s vacay outings in mixed prints, to the full-throttled glamour of Sobhita Dhulipala and Sara Ali Khan in their eveningwear gowns, fashion has never been so 24/7.

Dua Lipa’s latest beach-day look could remind you of your rebellious middle-school art project, back when gym shirts found another life as high fashion. The singer’s deconstructed sports jersey from SSENSE featured bold red lacing that held the panelled piece together and a cheeky Rose Athletic Sportswear logo stamped across the chest. The multi-Grammy Award winner stayed faithful to her signature picks—oversized gold hoops, a yellow flower tucked in her hair, and a straw tote that screamed laid-back cool.

Olivia Rodrigo’s print-on-print dressing, on the other hand, platters the kind of fashion inspiration you didn’t know you needed. On a recent getaway to Marrakech, the singer stepped out in Rixo’s Hayley Dress, featuring bold tulip prints. The vintage-inspired silk crepe de chine midi took in an added layer of brio with the sheer polka-dot-printed detachable scarf trailing down the open back.

When it comes to eveningwear that could cause similar traffic snarls, Sobhita Dhulipala has nailed the right pick once too often. Recently, the actor attended an event in Mumbai clad in a gilded gown from Rahul Mishra‘s Spring 2025 collection, ‘The Pale Blue Dot’, which had earlier debuted at Paris Haute Couture Week. Adorned with brass leaves and embroidery dripping with metallic sequins, mother-of-pearl huddles, and shimmering bugle beads, the masterpiece took 1,600 hours to come together.

No red carpet worth its name, though, can do without the attendance of a standout black dress. Sara Ali Khan’s strapless black gown from Isha Jajodia’s label, Roseroom, was all that and more at a starry evening recently. While the intricate lace embroidery and sequin-floral detailing spoke of delicate craftsmanship, the plunging neckline, flowing train, and flared tulle skirt nudged in the required theatrics.
