Prithvi20Sekhar.jpg

Deaf tennis player Prithvi Sekhar just secured a record-breaking victory for India. He won’t stop there

You may know that Roger Federer’s serve is described as beautiful or that Nadal’s topspin is called the most elegant, but tennis is often considered as much an auditory sport as a visual one. The crack of a powerful serve, the snap of a cleanly delivered slice, the whisper of a bounce across the net—all of these sounds are crucial for players to predict spin, speed and trajectory.

For Indian tennis player Prithvi Sekhar, born with congenital hearing loss and reliant on limited sound through a hearing aid, it meant he had to rely on visual cues more than other players.

Born and raised in Chennai, Sekhar is India’s most successful hearing-impaired tennis player. He always knew he wanted to be a sportsperson, a dream that was actively encouraged at home since his parents come from strong sporting backgrounds too. “My dad played cricket and my mom played kabaddi, so if you want to look for where I got my sporting spirit, you don’t have to look very far.”

On January 27, the 31-year-old became the first Indian tennis player to defend a Grand Slam singles title, with a straightforward win against France’s Oliver Grave in the finals of the Australian Open Deaf Championship Men’s Singles. From the get-go, Sekhar allowed Grave no respite, and in a display of quick-fought dominance, won without losing a single set. “When I won the match point, I just lay down on the court and soaked it all in. The vibrations. The feeling. I could feel my family and supporters cheering from the stands.”

His first thought? His parents. After all, it was their emotional support that enabled him to pursue tennis without hesitation. “Yes, I had the trophy, and yes, the win felt brilliant. But what meant the most to me were the hugs and kisses from my parents after the title. For me, that was the biggest prize of all.”

Given a choice between cricket and tennis at the tender age of 8, Sekhar decided on the latter, unsure if he would be able to be part of a team sport, particularly one that requires communication at every step. “I started with cricket,” he recalls, “but then my parents took me to a tennis academy. When I held a tennis racket and felt that bounce against the ball, felt that momentum, I knew tennis was for me.”

Footwear designer Alim Latif is stomping his platforms all over London

ROKER’s collaboration with Charles Jeffrey Loverboy.

Around the same time, he came to the notice of Harry Lambert who was styling the post-boyband Harry Styles persona. “We made shoes for Harry’s first solo outing,” reflects Latif. “They were keen that we evolved what we were doing. We were already doing a square toe, a men’s heeled shoe. It was about softening certain elements and taking other elements out.”

He was surprised to find how knowledgeable Styles was, during their initial conversation. Soon after, Lambert introduced him to the then-upcoming Central Saint Martin’s graduate Harris Reed. Latif had already been working with young fashion design graduates, helping them design footwear. He jokes, in a half-serious way, that it was actually inspiring to see them full of ideas, without having been jaded by the industry yet.

Working with Reed was to be treated as a collaboration Lambert had told him, and from that emerged the eight-inch heeled ‘H – Boots’, seen on Miley Cyrus on the cover of Rolling Stone. “I have always done a heeled shoe, and it’s always been a gender-neutral shoe,” says Latif. “T&F also did gender-neutral footwear, but I’d like to think I’ve progressed that a lot given I live and work in East London and I’m very much inspired by people in that area.”

Khushi Kapoor wore a custom Torani midi skirt-style lehenga that came with a heart-shaped choli and bag

Khushi Kapoor isn’t one to follow fashion directives, and with her custom Torani ensemble, she effortlessly refutes the winter season’s codes of predictable palettes and patterns. The actor, who is currently gearing up for her movie Loveyapa, a remake of the Tamil version of the rom-com called Love Today, has been committed to promoting the movie through a sartorial lens. After serving up expansive looks, from ornate sharara sets to mini dresses, she turned to an exquisite lehenga from Torani.

Bringing a shot of vibrancy to one of her recent outings, Kapoor wore a pink skirt set that clashes colours, crafts and compositions that borrow from Indian art and aesthetics. “Torani is deeply rooted in the traditions and heritage of its homeland. So when I got a call from Ami Patel’s team to create something along the lines of Valentine for Khushi, I knew exactly where to start: by traversing across the borders of Sindh and setting up camp amongst the kitschy appeal of India and its streets. Her custom Dilruba jharonka midi skirt borrows from the windows and frames in Indian art and architecture of ancient Sindh,” says Karan Torani.

What if my idea of a ‘big day’ isn’t a wedding?

One Sunday morning a few months ago, I was awoken by the persistent ding of WhatsApp notifications. Bleary-eyed but curious to nail the culprit who had dragged me back to the world of the living at 7am on my day off, I glanced at the screen, then almost launched my phone into the wall. I’d been added to yet another bridesmaids group chat.

I’ve spent the better part of my twenties as a bridesmaid, a willing sacrificial lamb at the altar of my friends’ big days. Months in advance, I was conscripted into the chaotic trenches of choosing every outfit in their wedding trousseau, accompanying them to every dress fitting, curating complementary jewellery—basically becoming their personal stylist. I have been on the unofficial planning committee of more weddings than I can count, prepping and planning, discussing details and dress codes alongside deciphering the quirks of different family members to ensure everyone feels important. I didn’t mind. This momentous, priceless occasion in their lives was their ‘thing’ and I felt honoured to be a part of it. It felt like the ultimate litmus test of a friendship—one that I was determined to pass with flying colours.

First came the engagement parties and gifts. Then bridesmaid’s duties. Followed by bachelorette trips. Wedding outfits. More gifts. Then, like clockwork, we moved on to baby showers. Kids’ birthdays. You get the drift.

By the end of my twenties, when this cycle had been repeated around 15 times, a 27 Dresses-shaped thought began to form in my mind. What if I never have these moments? What if the love, time and money I had poured into these occasions would never be reciprocated just because a wedding isn’t my idea of a big day?

I recently bagged the dream job every one of my schoolmates knows I’ve been gunning for since I was 10. They watched me go from starry-eyed and sanguine to stressed and struggling, riding the ups and downs of a capricious career in fashion. If there was ever a moment for me, it was this. My milestone. I worked harder for this than I ever would for some guy I might marry. But beyond the standard congratulatory texts and five-minute phone calls, where was the fanfare? I’ve had to uproot my life, move cities and start over. If anything, this milestone warrants an air fryer or a mixer grinder, especially since I haven’t coalesced into a single unit with a double income.

Kurta-Pajama-for-Men.jpg

Choose Elegant Kurta Pajama for Men

When it comes to traditional Indian clothing, the Kurta Pajama for Men has always stood as a symbol of elegance, comfort, and versatility. While it’s undeniably timeless, the world of fashion is constantly evolving, and blending traditional styles with modern accessories can make a huge difference in creating a more contemporary look. If you’re looking to infuse a touch of modern flair into your classic Kurta Pajama, you’ve come to the right place!

In this blog, we’ll show you how to accessorize your Kurta Pajama to bring out your unique personality, while still staying true to the essence of Indian Clothes. Whether you’re dressing for a wedding, a festive occasion, or even a casual outing, the right accessories can elevate your look to new heights. So, let’s get started and turn your traditional Kurta Pajama into a stylish masterpiece!

1. Add a Stylish Nehru Jacket for Extra Class

One of the most popular accessories to pair with a Kurta Pajama for Men is the Nehru jacket. A lightweight, tailored jacket that sits perfectly over your kurta, the Nehru jacket adds a refined, contemporary edge to your look. Available in a variety of fabrics—ranging from luxurious brocades to light cotton—it is an accessory that can transition seamlessly from casual to formal.

  • Styling Tip: For a more formal occasion, choose a Nehru jacket with subtle embroidery or a structured fit. If you’re going for something a bit more relaxed, opt for a soft cotton jacket with minimal designs or patterns.
  • Why It Works: The Nehru jacket merges traditional and modern vibes, adding sophistication while allowing the Indian Clothes look to remain fresh and young.

2. The Power of Statement Footwear

While we often focus on the outfit itself, shoes are equally important when accessorizing a Kurta Pajama. Traditional options like mojris, juttis, or kolhapuris are perfect companions for a Kurta Pajama, but the modern twist is all about how you wear them. The key is finding footwear that matches the vibe of your ensemble while keeping comfort in mind.

  • Styling Tip: Pair your Kurta Pajama with leather mojris for a sleek, contemporary look, or go for some modern sneakers to create a fusion between traditional and streetwear.
  • Why It Works: The right shoes can tie your entire look together, and opting for contemporary footwear options ensures you’re still rocking a traditional outfit with a twist.

3. Add a Trendy Watch to Your Wrist

A good watch speaks volumes, especially when paired with an outfit like a Kurta Pajama. A modern wristwatch can act as a subtle yet bold statement piece. Whether you choose a classic leather strap watch or a more futuristic design with a metal band, the watch will give your Kurta Pajama a contemporary, high-fashion look.

  • Styling Tip: For a traditional yet contemporary vibe, go for a watch with a minimalistic design in metal or wood. If you’re dressing for a more formal event, a classic gold or silver watch will make you stand out.
  • Why It Works: A stylish watch complements the structure of your outfit and can add an element of sophistication that makes your outfit stand out, perfect for both casual and formal occasions.

4. Embrace the Power of Pocket Squares

Pocket squares are often overlooked but can dramatically change the overall appearance of your Kurta Pajama. Whether you’re attending a wedding or a festive event, adding a pocket square to your Kurta Pajama jacket is the perfect way to give a modern twist to a traditional outfit.

  • Styling Tip: Choose a pocket square with a bold print or rich texture. Silk or velvet fabric works wonderfully for high-end events, while cotton or linen can bring a laid-back, cool vibe for more casual occasions.
  • Why It Works: Pocket squares add a pop of personality to your Kurta Pajama. They introduce a playful, stylish element that balances tradition with modern trends, showing off your attention to detail.

5. Stylish Belts: A Bold Statement

If you’re looking to mix things up a little, adding a stylish belt to your Kurta Pajama is a simple way to bring a contemporary flair. While traditionally, the pyjama is the focus of attention, a sleek belt can provide structure and make your outfit appear even more polished.

  • Styling Tip: A leather belt with intricate embroidery or a subtle metallic buckle can provide just the right amount of contrast. For a more traditional vibe, opt for a fabric belt that matches your kurta.
  • Why It Works: The belt brings structure to your outfit, giving you an elegant yet modern look. It’s perfect for showcasing your waistline while also serving as an interesting focal point in your outfit.

6. The Art of Layering with a Scarf or Dupatta

While dupattas and scarves are common in traditional attire, they can be transformed into a modern accessory when styled appropriately. You don’t need to wear a dupatta the way it’s typically worn, draped across your chest or shoulders. Instead, experiment with different ways to style it, like wrapping it around your neck or loosely tying it for a more contemporary look.

  • Styling Tip: Choose a light, flowy silk scarf for a more casual, chic look, or opt for a woven dupatta with embroidered details for formal occasions.
  • Why It Works: The scarf or dupatta adds both colour and texture, making the outfit feel more layered and interesting. It’s an easy accessory to make your Indian Clothes look contemporary while still keeping it rooted in tradition.

7. Layer with a Modern Blazer

For a sophisticated and sharp look, layer your Kurta Pajama with a modern blazer. Opt for a sleek, structured design that contrasts with the flowy nature of the kurta. A well-fitted blazer can immediately elevate your outfit, giving it a contemporary edge without losing the essence of Indian fashion.

  • Styling Tip: If you’re going for a wedding or formal event, pair a black velvet or dark navy blue blazer with a light-coloured Kurta Pajama to make the entire look pop. Alternatively, a casual blazer can also pair well with a more laid-back kurta for a day event.
  • Why It Works: The addition of a blazer brings an air of sophistication and modernity, making it an excellent way to balance traditional and contemporary styles in your Kurta Pajama look.

8. Go for a Bold Necklace or Chain

While men’s jewellery may often take a back seat, wearing a subtle yet bold necklace or chain can completely transform your outfit. Whether you’re wearing a gold chain, a beaded necklace, or a simple pendant, the right piece of jewellery can add a contemporary twist to your traditional look.

  • Styling Tip: Choose a minimalist silver chain for a sleek look or go for a bold beaded necklace with ethnic prints for a more playful vibe.
  • Why It Works: A necklace adds personality and a sense of individuality to your outfit. It’s an easy way to enhance your Kurta Pajama and make it your own.

9. Sunglasses: The Modern Touch

For that cool, stylish edge, sunglasses are the perfect accessory to complement your Kurta Pajama. Whether you’re stepping out for a casual event or strolling through a wedding, a pair of sleek sunglasses will add an effortless, fashionable vibe to your look.

  • Styling Tip: For a more traditional look, go for round vintage sunglasses, or opt for modern aviators for a contemporary twist.
  • Why It Works: Sunglasses are an instant cool factor, adding a touch of modernity while remaining functional. They give you a stylish look that’s perfect for any occasion.

Why Nihal Fashions Is Your Go-To for the Perfect Kurta Pajama

When you’re looking to add accessories to your Kurta Pajama, the base outfit is just as important as the add-ons. Nihal Fashions offers a wide range of Kurta Pajama for Men, from classic designs to more contemporary cuts, perfect for mixing and matching with the accessories we’ve mentioned. Whether you’re attending a wedding, a festival, or a simple gathering, Nihal Fashions has the perfect collection that allows you to express your unique style with comfort.

Whether it’s the sleek addition of a Nehru jacket, a statement watch, or stylish footwear, accessorizing is all about creating a look that’s both timeless and fresh. So, next time you rock your Indian Clothes, remember: it’s the little details that make all the difference. KIM-JONES-STORY201201.jpg

Kim Jones is stepping down from Dior Men

Kim Jones is stepping down from his role as artistic director of menswear at Dior, the house announced today.

“I am extremely grateful for the remarkable work done by Kim Jones, his studio, and the ateliers. With all his talent and creativity, he has constantly reinterpreted the house’s heritage with genuine freedom of tone and surprising, highly desirable artistic collaborations,” said Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Dior, in a statement.

“It was a true honour to have been able to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence. I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support,” Jones added.

The British designer has been at the helm of Dior Men since 2018. His last show for the house, just a week ago, was followed not only by rave reviews but also a knighthood: the designer was awarded France’s highest distinction, the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by Vogue’s Anna Wintour at Paris’s Le Laurent, in front of a crowd that included Gwendoline Christie, Robert Pattinson, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy O Harris, Chitose Abe, Rick Owens and Delphine Arnault.

Jones also holds an Officer of the British Empire (OBE) decoration, which he received from Queen Elizabeth II in October 2020. Earlier that year, he had succeeded the late Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi, where, until October 2024, he designed womenswear, haute couture and fur. Jones shares with his predecessor a passion for collecting as well as a “voracious lust for knowledge and a curiosity that’s astounding”, Wintour noted in her opening remarks at last week’s knighthood ceremony.

Prior to his appointment at Dior Men, Jones served as artistic director of Louis Vuitton Men’s from 2011 to 2018. He was the engine behind the 2017 Louis Vuitton x Supreme collaboration, which many regard as a landmark moment for streetwear. “The distinguishing mark of a great designer is to transform complexity into something that just looks simply and inevitably right,” wrote Vogue’s Sarah Mower at the time, adding that “this collection had that talent stamped all over it.” “We raised [streetwear] up to something that was very luxurious,” said Jones himself of the collaboration in a recent interview with Vogue Business’s Laure Guilbault.

Sanya Malhotra paired a candy pink linen zari sari by Eka with a hand-sculpted porcelain choker

Sanya Malhotra loves wearing saris, as is evident from her Instagram feed. She often experiments with textures and colours, giving ethnic sartorial inspiration with every look. For the promotions of Malhotra’s latest release, Mrs., the actor dressed in a head-to-toe zari ensemble courtesy of the craft-forward brand, Eka.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

The linen zari sari is different from its silk counterpart, where rich gold or silver threads are used to embellish the fabric from its surface. With the linen, fragile silver threads are directly woven into the fabric through meticulous handloom techniques. Malhotra’s sari, in a soft candy-pink hue, was a result of this delicate process, apt for navigating everyday life. As opposed to a stringent pallu, linen’s billowing quality, combined with the subtle zari sheen, amplified the look’s wearability.

Sanya Malhotra paired the sari with a block-printed blouse, a hand-sculpted porcelain choker, a grey zari potli and Mughal-architecture-inspired navratan bangles set with gemstones symbolising the nine planets. Instead of a gajra or the overdone coquette-core bow, Malhotra’s ruffled scrunchie added a sense of whimsy to her nostalgia-inducing ensemble.

The overall feel was old-world presented as a less-loud take on method dressing, resonating with Malhotra’s character. The sari was reminiscent of the way actors would dress in 70s’ slice-of-life movies.

Kylie Jenner’s standout vintage moments to date

Kylie Jenner’s vintage collection is one that rivals both her collector sister Kim’s and archival obsessive Kendall’s. Case in point? The Liz Hurley-inspired ’90s Versace dress she wore to attend the 2025 Golden Globes on the arm of her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, who was in the running for the Best Actor prize for his performance in A Complete Unknown.

Archival Mugler is another go-to for Kylie on the red carpet, but she’s also integrated trophy vintage into her day-to-day wardrobe, whether it’s a Comme des Garçons trompe d’oeil set, a ’90s Versace minidress, or most recently, vintage Alaïa in Paris. Alongside these big hitters, Jenner has invested in more under-the-radar pieces, too, like the ’90s nude floral dress by Prada she wore at Milan Fashion Week in 2023, or her rare Hanae Mori lace dress, which she sported at last year’s Golden Globes.

Never Have I Ever actor Sendhil Ramamurthy on why it’s tough being brown and beautiful in Hollywood

This past December, as the festive buzz in Bengaluru softened into a quiet lull, Sendhil Ramamurthy and I took a trip to Chikmagalur. We moseyed through coffee plantations, lolled around bonfires, and gallivanted up and down beautiful forest paths—and yet, we never once saw each other. He was on vacation with his family, and I with mine. And though we stayed at resorts situated within an hour of each other, owned by the same company, on nearly exactly the same dates, meeting the actor of Heroes (2006-2010) fame wasn’t written in my stars just yet. And probably for good reason.

When our paths do cross on Zoom over a month later, the Never Have I Ever (2020-2023) star, 50, is on a different continent, and if the short-maned, primly bearded face that appears on my screen is anything to go by, I reckon I probably wouldn’t have recognised him anyway. Today, he doesn’t look anything like his angelic Never Have I Ever character, or his swashbuckling alter ego, Vikram, in his latest Bollywood outing, Do Aur Do Pyaar (2024). If anything, he looks younger, hotter, cooler—although I soon learn it’s a look he isn’t entirely at peace with. “I can’t wait to grow out the hair and shave off the beard,” he tells me later over Whatsapp, adding that it’s for his next role in the British psychological thriller series, The Couple Next Door. Unlike me, Ramamurthy’s fans had no trouble recognising him. “The number of people that came up to me in Bengaluru this time just from having followed my work…it was pretty amazing,” he says from his apartment in Antwerp, where he’s currently based.
