An ivory sari is the ultimate wardrobe chameleon—it is subtle enough to underplay the look yet striking enough to turn heads. Kajol demonstrated the silhouette’s enduring charm and versatility for the star-studded screening of her mythological horror film, Maa. For the red-carpet occasion in Mumbai, Kajol opted for a pristine look by Kapardara that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.

Draped in a billowing confection from Kapardara’s latest ‘Serpent & Bloom’ collection aptly called ‘Alina’, Kajol proved once again that less can be more. “Kajol’s Alina sari is all about clean lines, lightness of being and a hint of old-world glam. It is crafted in pure silk organza and pure silk. The organza pallu adds a sheer, ethereal elegance, while the silk base ensures a structured fall,” shared Sneha Shekhawat, the co-founder of Kapardara.
What elevated the sari from simple to standout was its intricate border. “Her sari features delicate Turi detailing and a handcrafted pure gold Lampi border. Lampi is an ancient embellishment technique involving the weaving of gold or silver metal wires into fabric, then embossing ornate motifs onto it. Done by hand, it took 45 hours just for the Lampi work to come to life and another 28 hours to make the sari,” she added.
