The Met Gala 2025 embraced the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” as well as the dress code, Tailored for You, paying tribute to the artistry of tailoring–both the craft and the cultural symbolism of it. It wasn’t a night of buttoned-up restraint. The mood remained maximal, but in a considered way. Sculptural shapes, conceptual fashion, and beauty that didn’t scream for attention but knew exactly how to command it.
Amid the parade of razor-sharp lapels and fine tailoring at the Met Gala 2025, a recurring theme emerged: paired-back, luminous skin, lived-in eyes, and vintage 1920s-inspired kiss-curls. However, a few, like Doja Cat and Chappell Roan, broke the mould with more avant-garde makeup choices. The South Asian attendees understood the assignment and made their mark with refined elegance and thoughtful nods to heritage.

Mindy Kaling’s custom Harbison Studios suit with red velvet detailing and a crisp white collar nodded to the night’s theme in all the right places, but her beauty choices added just the right dose of cool. A sleek ponytail adorned with gold clips hinted at armour, while her smoked-out eyes and nude lips felt unfussy and fresh. There was a quiet confidence to it, a woman who knows exactly where the spotlight is, and isn’t rushing to stand in it, instead letting it catch her.
